Joshua 9:14
"So the men took some of their provisions, but did not ask counsel from the Lord."
Joshua's men took some of the Hivites provisions from Gibeon without asking God first. As a result they made a covenant without knowing or seeking the truth about where these men were from.
Often times we don't pray or seek counsel in God's Word when we are embarking on a new venture. Why do you think ultimately the Lord doesn't bless us when we decide to take matters in our own hands?

And Peter answered, "The Christ of God."
According to Peter here in Luke 9:20 he is calling Jesus after being questioned, "The Christ of God". What does this word Christ mean in Greek? Why would it be important or significant at all to be called this?
Please post all answers with your First Name and last initial.

Be careful what you say!
Jesus tells us in the book of Matthew 12: 36I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
We all have things we have said that we wish we could have taken back. Good news is that Jesus remembers no wrong if we repent and ask for forgiveness.
What are some things you do to keep from speaking careless words?
Is it wrong to lend money?
In Chapter 15 of Psalms, David writes to God questioning the qualifications someone might have to dwell on His Holy hill (e.i. be in good standing before the Lord). Clearly David gives his opinion (inspired by God) and states that we should not lend money with interest. Let's take a look at what the Bible says as a whole in these references below.
After reading these what is your opinion, and is David speaking to everyone?
Is money lending against our religion?
I will let you know what the bible says on these controversial issues soon, stay tuned!

Matthew 6:1-24 Lay Up Treasures in Heaven
21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Jesus tells Jews and Gentiles (You and Me) that where we spend our time and energy, there our hearts will be also.
Where is your time and energy spent? Do you find yourself storing up treasures in a place a where moth and rust destroy?

Genesis 16:1-18:15 Sarai and Hagar
God through Moses in these chapter shows us how once Sarai and Abram committed their "whole" lives to God he then was able to change their names to Sarah (Princess) and Abraham (the father of a multitude).
Even though your name was not changed when you committed your life to Christ, how were you changed in other ways?

Tower of Babel
In Genesis 11:1 Moses tells us that the "whole earth had one language and the same words." Then in 11:6 we see the Lord say, "And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them."
OK Bible Students! Explain how v7 and v8 would have put a stop to mans plans. Be specific.
