And Peter answered, "The Christ of God."

According to Peter here in Luke 9:20 he is calling Jesus after being questioned, "The Christ of God". What does this word Christ mean in Greek? Why would it be important or significant at all to be called this?

Please post all answers with your First Name and last initial.
